Walk on Water Girl

Have you ever stepped out in faith, carefully planning something you were sure was aligned with God’s purpose, only for things to turn out… not quite what you expected?

That was me recently.

I recently planned a little getaway — or rather, a staycation — for some much-needed quiet time with God. A change of scenery was calling, and I was ready to embrace it. It felt so good to step into this intentional space, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel like running back home at times.

Let me preface this by saying: I’m a solo traveler, but I never travel alone. I go with legions of angels because, hello, GOD is my travel buddy! I did my research, chose a hotel with great reviews, and picked a location that was not just decent — it leaned on the affluent side of town. Everything seemed perfect on paper.

When I arrived, though, I was hit with something unexpected: there were a lot of men. As a single woman traveling solo, that threw me off balance. I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable, even though nothing was inherently wrong. My mind spiraled, but I told myself to give it a chance.

Checking in, the room was nice — yay! But then... I realized I could hear everything. The walls, let’s just say, weren’t exactly soundproof. I could hear everything. Every laugh, every footstep, every muffled conversation. My peace was getting tested, and I was this close to packing up and heading back to the familiar comforts of home.

And then it happened.

God whispered to me: “Are you going to pay attention to the wind and the waves?”

Shooketh.

In that moment, I knew I had a choice to make. Was I going to let the noise, my discomfort, and my expectations dictate my experience, or was I going to fix my eyes on the One who called me here in the first place?

I decided to stay. To focus on the reason I came. To walk on water, just like Peter when he stepped out of the boat. And you know what? I found peace.

Here’s what I want to encourage you with, sister: things may not always work out how you planned, but when you keep your focus on God, they still work out.

We can be so quick to let fear or frustration steal the moment. But God has a way of meeting us in the chaos and reminding us of His presence. So the next time you find yourself in a situation that feels off or outside your control, remember who’s really in control.

Keep walking on water. Keep trusting. Because He’s always there, steadying your steps.

You’ve got this — and more importantly, God’s got you.

If it’s one thing I know, it’s how to bend. Whether it’s people people-ing or life life-ing, I’ve experienced heart ache and pain, (who hasn’t) but I’ve also experienced God’s amazing grace, provision, protection to say the least. And that’s what I write about, the fight and the rainbows!
